With the process of construction, the temporary wall no longer exists. This project was a collaborative mural painting project with Pacific Buddhist Academy and Kaimukī High Schoool. The haumāna (students) applied the first layers of color and lead artist, Estria Miyashiro, layed down the finishing touches of the Pueo (Hawaiian owl).
This pueo (Hawaiian owl) was a portion of the ‘aumākua series of animals painted for this mural. The pueo are considered sacred and represent foresight. They are keepers of sacred knowledge and are known to be able to cross between the living world and afterlife, where they belong to both heaven and earth. Pueo are also known to be great protectors of areas of Hawai‘i
