“Ola i ka wai” – There is life in water. Water is life.  –  Kalihi, Oahu

Our month of May was busy as our Mele Murals program brought our aloha to Kaewai Elementary school in Kalihi, Oahu. The mural was completed in two weeks with the help of the students and staff.
The mural is about what makes Kalihi Valley special. In the past, many akua (Hawaiian gods) and alii (royalty) were born there. Currently, people of many races are born in Kalihi and the red ginger flower, which is not native to Kalihi, represents that beauty.
